The EU sponsored, FP7 project ANVIL (Analysis of Civil Security Systems in Europe) has been started in March 2012. It aims to compare the European civil security systems. Civil security systems vary in structures, policies, rules and practices: countries have organized differently in their efforts to protect citizens from a variety of risks to their security and safety. Each system evolved in a unique historical and cultural context, and is bound by different legal/constitutional frameworks. Each system consists of different actors, is governed differently and has different relations with private sector parties. Consequently,  each system relates to its citizens in unique ways.

The project will last two years. Workshops with stakeholders and practitioners will be organized. For more information, see:http://www.anvil-project.net. You can also join LinkedIn group entitled: “Analysis of Civil Security Systems in Europe”.
