Report of networks activites (Jens Zinn)
The network was founded by Jens Zinn in 2006 with the support of the Social Contexts and Responses to Risk Network (SCARR; http://www.kent.ac.uk/scarr/) and further 13 members of ESA.

An email list was developed. There are currently 60 subscribers on the list.

Two streams for the current conference and two shared sessions with the biographical network were organised. Of the original over 80 abstracts received approximately 60 papers were presented in 15 sessions.

Current Plans
We agreed that directly after the conference Jens Zinn will with the support of SCARR set up a homepage where the presented papers of the network will be available to fertilise further discussion after the conference.

The network-members agreed to have the next intermediate conference together with TG04 Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty of ISA at Barcelona, 5-8 September 2008. Jens Zinn is currently preparing the call for papers for this conference. Ideas and suggestions for further sessions are welcome.

on the board of the network.

All elections were unanimous.

Others
Johannes Brinkmann presented plans for a research centre at his Norwegian School of Management. There seems to be a realistic hope for further research funding, both by exploiting the education function for the insurance industry and by truly interdisciplinary international cooperation. Several possibilities were discussed and it was agreed on further cooperation (addendum: JB& colleague Magne Aarset (magne-aarset@bi.no) will try to organize a workshop in Oslo Mid-December this year, for getting such cooperation started).

Sytze Kingma reported that he is currently organizing a stream on risk as part of European Group for Organisational Studies (EGOS) conference, to be held in Amsterdam in July 2008. Papers on risk perceptions, the institutional construction of risks and risk management are welcomed as well as more theoretical and methodical papers dealing with risk etc. The conference generally focuses on risk issues but there is also a specific interest in crises management and disasters with the hope to connect sociologists and organizational scientist's perspectives on risk. Deadline for abstracts will be January 13th 2008.

Next meeting
The next business meeting of the network will take place in Barcelona, September 2008.
